CAPE TOWN, July 2 (Xinhua) -- South African Parliament Speaker Baleka Mbete has set August 8 as the new date for a vote of no confidence in President Jacob台中商標註冊 Zuma, Parliament said on Sunday.
Following further consultations with political parties in Parliament and with the Executive, Mbete has decided to revise the date, Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said.
Mbete previously台中商標註冊查詢 set August 3 for the vote.
There was an oversight during the initial consultations and determination of the originally announced date, which overlooked the fact that a cabinet meeting has already been set for that week, Mothapo said.
Mothapo said Mbete has also set July 14 as the deadline for political parties to submit their views regarding their preferred means of voting on this particular motion, that is, whether by a secret or open台灣商標註冊查詢 ballot.
The Speaker will make her decision regarding the appropriate voting procedure before the scheduled debate on August 8, said the spokesperson.
Mbete said on Friday that Parliament was considering a request from the opposition that the vote be conducted through 台中商標註冊申請secret ballot.
The motion, initially submitted on March 30 and scheduled for April 18, was postponed indefinitely at the request of opposition parties, pending a court application to force a secret ballot in the hope that African National Congress (ANC) MPs would be encouraged to vote against Zuma.
The Constitutional Court ruled on June 22 that Mbete is empowered to decide whether a vote of no confidence in Zuma should be conducted by secret ballot.
So far, seven votes of no confidence against Zuma have failed in Parliament dominated by ANC MPs.
Opposition parties fielded another vote of no confidence against Zuma in April after Zuma reshuffled 台中商標申請流程the cabinet, sacking Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and other ministers.
Also on Sunday, ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member Fikile Mbalula warned that ANC members who support a motion of no confidence in Zuma risk being disciplined by the party.
